April 2010 -- Emily from Atlanta Audubon visited our club to share why birds matter and how schools like ours can be improved to provide habitat for all kinds of wildlife. After a quick review inside, we toured our campus and headed towards the SE section of the BeltLine in Reynoldstown.

March 2010 -- We received a visit from Kyla with the Southeastern Horticultural Society. Students shared their desire to have something green and pretty on campus…..after today's activity, we all agree a garden is green, pretty, and much much more!

Georgia Arbor Day 2010, February 19th -- Georgia Arbor Day brought a program and tree planting to campus. We received an amazing presentation from the Alliance for Climate Education and then planted a tree to show how we feel about climate change.

| One of the most important details in tree planting is loosening the roots. It took over 15 min of continuous “root massaging†to free the roots. Now our tree has a strong foundation upon which to grow. | Another important detail is adding mulch. Mulch keeps the ground moist, reduces weeds, and creates a protective barrier from things like lawn mowers and even careless students. |

| Our American Elm will grow fast and strong. As one of the symbolic trees of the Urban Forest Corridor Natural Neighborhood, the American Elm will once again regain its status as one of the best street trees in America. |
January 2010 -- Tech's garden club merged to form the environmental club. Our club meets twice a month to work on the garden and plan other projects. Working with Trees Atlanta and many partners, there are lots of opportunity to make our school greener. One project that has received lots of interest is to transform the southern-most part of the campus into a nursery. Check back soon to see.
