A Tree

A tree stands faithfully
and won¹t turn away.
Like a sign that says, "Welcome",
it asks you to stay.

The branches reach out
and sing to the birds
and down on the sidewalk
the twigs spell words.

blue sky wil oak 1

Deep in the earth
the silent roots sleep.
One day they awaken
and slowly they creep.

Close to the ground there
and touching the sky,
a tree stands always
as the clouds sail by.

A tree weaves a story,
a history of time.
Look up and listen
and together you¹ll climb.
