Volunteer FAQs

Q: Can the hours I volunteer at projects count towards community service hours for school or to fulfill a court order?
A: Yes. We do not count workshops or classes as volunteer time. Please sign in at each project and keep a list of the project dates and locations that you attend. The project coordinator can sign a form for you or write a letter for you after the project.

Q: When can I volunteer with Trees Atlanta?
A: Trees Atlanta has volunteer projects year-round on Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm. We also occasionally need help on weekdays. To find out about volunteer opportunities, please sign up to receive our weekly volunteer emails.

Q: Can children attend volunteer projects?
A: Tree planting projects are great for all ages. Tree plantings are on Saturdays from October through March. Tree maintenance projects (April-Sept) and Forest Restoration projects (once a month, year-round) are best for ages 12 and up. All children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Q: Can I bring a group of people to a project?
A: Yes, we would love for your group to volunteer with us. So that we can plan for the proper size project, please schedule your group at least 10 days before the desired project date. Please email Susan to schedule a group of volunteers.

Q: Can groups volunteer on weekdays?
A: If you would like to schedule a volunteer project outside of our regular Saturday projects, please contact Kate Conner, Development Director for information about project sponsorship.
