Vote for Trees

Only 3.7% of our city's acreage is devoted to parks and open greenspace. Atlanta trails New York (which has 26.8%), and Los Angeles (10%) and all of the other 25 major cities researched in a 2000 study for city acreage dedicated to park and open space

Let your elected officials know that you support Atlanta's trees. Let them hear that trees are important to Atlanta and to you.

Trees Atlanta’s Platform
Be a global model of a city in a forest in order to cost effectively improve our air, water, and quality of life.

  • Generate commitment and leadership to maintain, plant, and improve our urban forest.
  • Pursue a goal of more and better-managed trees and green space.
  • Create new requirements and enforce current policy to ensure cooperation between departments
    • Influence with the development community
    • Special focus on neighborhoods, corridors, and parking lots
  • Launch a public awareness/education campaign on the comprehensive bene-fits
  • of trees/green space.
  • Dedicate financial and human resources to ensure achievement of these goals.
