Nature and Art Journaling at the Carter Center

Sat Sep 21 | 2pm-4pm | Carter Center

Since its founding in 1982, the Carter Center has focused on justice, peace and health of communities far and near. During this tour at the Carter Center, we will talk about the contributions of former President Jimmy Carter, his wife Rosalynn Carter, and the late Congressman John Lewis as well as the history of the area and the magnificent trees that witnessed it.

Bring your sketching materials - we'll pause to journal and sketch, or simply enjoy taking in the space. We will sketch the flora, architecture, and artwork along our path surrounding the center. Highlights include the President’s Garden, unique tree species from all over the world, and a lovely skyline view of Atlanta through the urban canopy.

About the Docent: Francia McCormack has been an Atlanta resident for more than 40 years. She graduated from UGA and SUNY Buffalo studying Journalism and Education. She substitute teaches in DeKalb and is a writer and painter. She volunteers for Girl Scouts, Trees Atlanta, and DeKalb Democrats.
