Our intuition tells us that individual businesses in the same industry MUST compete with one another for finite resources (i.e., each business competing for a fixed amount of revenue from a limited number of customers). Indeed, as I speak to environmentally conscious volunteers and leaders around Atlanta, I hear subtle talk of “staying out of each other’s way,” or “not encroaching upon each other’s mission,” or “competing for donations from the same benefactors.”
