Across the City of Atlanta, 12 Planting Projects in 12 City Council Districts
Hundreds of Volunteers to Plant 800 Trees Across Atlanta in One Weekend

2024 is our ninth year of Plantlanta, our single largest planting event in each of the 12 City Council Districts of Atlanta. This year, all 12 of our planting projects will be hosted at a city park where we’ll collaborate with Park Pride and their Friends of Parks groups!

There are many reasons to be Friends of Parks and Trees! Parks are a place where communities can gather, play, and enjoy nature in the city.  Trees are not only iconic features of parks, they also provide real benefits. Trees increase mental health effects, offer shade from summer heat, and decrease stormwater runoff. Many of our parks are located near stream buffers, and trees and parks help to protect our watersheds.

This is an invitation to join us for Plantlanta 2024! You can be a part of Plantlanta 2024 by signing up for a project today and inviting a friend to join you. Introducing others to new communities across Atlanta and to the power of community forestry is a key benefit of Plantlanta. Planting tasks include digging holes with shovels/mattocks, untangling roots with your hands, mulching, watering, and cleaning up your area. Tree planting can be physically strenuous — be ready to break a sweat and get dirty!

This year we are excited to collaborate with Park Pride, an organization working with Atlanta communities to enhance parks and greenspaces through advocacy, volunteerism, and capital improvements. They strive to help every community achieve their vision of a great park. Attend your District’s project to meet new neighbors and plant new trees in a park near you!
