Across the City of Atlanta, 12 Planting Projects in 12 City Council Districts
Hundreds of Volunteers to Plant 700 Trees Across Atlanta in One Weekend
2025 marks a milestone year as we celebrate 40 years of planting and protecting trees across Atlanta. Plantlanta, our city’s largest tree planting event, returns for its tenth year with projects in all 12 City Council Districts. This is a tradition that continues to bring neighborhoods together and strengthen communities across the city.
For four decades, our work has shown how trees touch every part of life. They shade our homes, cool our streets, and connect us to one another. They also shape the future, improving air quality, supporting mental health, and protecting our waterways for generations still to come.
As we look back on four decades of growth, we’re also looking forward. Each tree planted today is a gift for tomorrow— a promise of cleaner air, cooler streets, and vibrant communities. This year, we celebrate that legacy by planting today for shade tomorrow.

You can be a part of Plantlanta 2025 by signing up for a project and inviting a friend to join you. Introducing others to new communities across Atlanta and to the power of community forestry is a key benefit of Plantlanta. Planting tasks include digging holes with shovels/mattocks, untangling roots with your hands, mulching, watering, and cleaning up your area. Tree planting can be physically strenuous but an activity that is easily done— be ready to break a sweat and get dirty!
