ATLANTA – The Atlanta airport is piloting more than just planes. A flock of 100 grazing sheep are being used to control vegetation near the airport. Hartsfield-Jackson International has teamed up with Trees Atlanta for a pilot program to remove plants that are growing too tall.

The sheep will graze around about an acre piece of property. The hope is that the flock will be able to naturally keep down the vegetation while being environmentally friendly and cost effective. Trees Atlanta says they used the same sheep and goats to keep more than 40 acres clear in city of Atlanta parks this year.
