Lunch and Learn: A Virtual Tour of Green Infrastructure & Smart Water Solutions in Atlanta's Urban Forest
Thu Jul 09 | 12pm-1pm | Virtual/ Trees Atlanta Kenda Tree House
Join the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed and Trees Atlanta for an inspiring look at green infrastructure projects throughout our city in the forest. From natural systems like protected forests, wetlands, riparian buffers, and floodplains to innovative “sponge park” designs like Historic Fourth Ward Park and Cook Park, Atlanta is reimagining how we manage water and support our urban forest. We’ll also explore practical solutions you can begin to spot across the city—like bioretention swales on the beltline arboretum, to stormwater planters, green roofs, and rainwater harvesting systems.
Discover how these diverse approaches work together to reduce flooding, improve water quality, and strengthen the ecosystems in our “City in the Forest.” Inspired: learn how you can be part of this movement through Trees Atlanta’s City Forest Certified program—with simple, impactful actions like planting trees, capturing rainwater, creating a rain garden, or reducing impervious surfaces at home.
