Tree Tour: Connection and Community in Sylvan Hills and Capitol View

Sun Jun 14 | 10am-12pm | Perkerson Park

We’re all connected - to each other, to the natural world, and to our communities, yet loneliness and isolation are at an all time high. Spend time with neighbors and new friends discovering the unique history of the Sylvan Hills and Capitol View neighborhoods as well as the park connecting them, Perkerson Park. Explore the urban forest growing in our community streets and parks, plus tour a portion of the Sylvan Hills Neighborhood Arboretum, designed by community members. Along the way you’ll hear stories and see examples of ways individual and collective efforts support a vibrant community and its natural beauty.

There are seven Neighborhood Arboreta that were established in mid-2000s through a collaborative effort of neighbors, Trees Atlanta volunteers, and the city.

About the Docent: After returning home to Georgia from North Carolina, S.E. Spencer Keziah has called SWATL home. She, her partner, and her dogs enjoy exploring Atlanta’s urban forest with trips further afield to the North Carolina mountains as often as possible. Growing up in metro Atlanta, S.E. spent time volunteering with Trees Atlanta and is excited to be part of the docent team to further the mission. She can’t wait to share her love for her neighborhood with tour participants!
