As the meadows of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum burst alive with color in the spring and summer, the “weeds” are also thriving. Undesirable plant species aggressively compete for space with native plants. Trees Atlanta’s BeltLine Arboretum team depends on volunteers to help with the labor-intensive work of hand-pulling weeds. This allows us to avoid use of chemical control and better protect natve plants.

Trees Atlanta staff will lead volunteers in the weeding work from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, then the group heads to the restaurant sponsor for that week’s project. Whether it’s wine, beer, or soda (and sometimes a little nosh, too), half the fun is cooling down and socializing with new friends after the project. All participants MUST register online: Calendar Volunteer Projects

Registered volunteers will receive instructions on proper attire and meeting location. Volunteers are reminded that projects require physical effort outdoors in warm temperatures in areas with vegetation. Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated, and sunscreen and/or insect-repellant may be recommended.  Cheers!
