2,176 Pizza Slices Eaten at Trees Atlanta Summer Camp 2024

Another summer, another successful Junior TreeKeeper Summer Camp at Trees Atlanta! This year marked our second season at the Trees Atlanta Kendeda TreeHouse. Summer 2024 was our most exciting one yet, with a record number of campers and an abundance of fun.

How do we measure success?

Over eight weeks of camp, we welcomed 378 campers, 42 junior interns, and an incredible team of counselors, interns, partners, and education staff.

Traditional metrics alone don’t quite capture the spirit of summer camp with Trees Atlanta, so we’ve created some measurements that reflect the experiences and memories maded in a fun way! Important questions like: How many frozen grapes did our campers eat this summer? How many leaf rubbings were created?

Take a look at the numbers and moments below!

Thank you to our camp staff, interns, and junior interns who captured these fun moments throughout Summer 2024.

Junior TreeKeepers spent their days making friends, playing games, and exploring the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum and its many trees. We explored some of Atlanta’s beautiful parks, including Washington Park, Adair Park 1 & 2, Gordon White Park, and Rose Circle Park. We hosted guest presenters from Fulton County Water and Community Farmers Market for our Sassafras and Quercus campers at the Kendeda TreeHouse.

The youngest group, the Sassafras campers, teamed up with our Youth Tree Team to care for the Kendeda TreeHouse campus. Meanwhile, our oldest group, Acer, went on off-site field trips to places like Blue Heron Nature Preserve, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Dunwoody Nature Center, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Chattahoochee Nature Center, and Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area.

Here’s what our parents and campers had to say:

“James had an amazing time. She loved the enthusiasm of the counselors!”

“My camper said this was his favorite camp and he wishes he could go to school at Trees Atlanta!”

“This was her first ever summer camp, and it’ll be something she wants to do next summer as well. Y’all are awesome!”

“Thanks for running a great camp! Every staff member we interacted with was awesome – so fun and engaging with the kids. My child reported that they went above and beyond to make sure his water bottle was full of cold water and he learned so much that he was excited to share about every day. I also loved that there were no movies/screens (even at aftercare!) – this is pretty rare and it’s only of many reasons I’ll be signing him up for more than one week next year!”

Trees Atlanta Junior TreeKeeper Camp is open for Summer Camp and School Break Camp. Please visit our Camp program page for additional information, including upcoming sessions, registration, and scholarships.
